This week, brands are getting creative to find new and effective ways to communicate with their audience. Catch up on their latest marketing and advertising efforts in our Weekly Must Reads.

Peyton Manning Is Now on Tap

Last weekend, legendary quarterback Peyton Manning was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, an honor that includes a bronze bust put on display. To celebrate Manning’s accomplishment, Michelob Ultra created a bronze “Smiling Peyton Bust Tap Handle,” which looks exactly how you’d imagine it. The tap handle is now featured in bars serving Michelob Ultra in select cities, including his longtime NFL home of Indianapolis (and also our hometown!).

Additionally, super-fans that share a favorite Manning moment on social media will be entered into a contest to win their own Smiling Peyton tap. In the past, Manning has worked with Michelob Ultra in a number of other campaigns, such as last year’s Caddyshack-inspired commercial and the brand’s 2021 Super Bowl ad. A New Short Film-Style Campaign for Dubai Tourism

Brands are always taking ads to new creative heights. For their latest campaign, Dubai Tourism has created a commercial that looks more like a movie trailer than a traditional ad. The short film, which stars Zac Efron and Jessica Alba, follows a spy couple on an action-filled adventure through Dubai, showing off many of the city’s iconic landmarks. Dubai Tourism plans to release more ads soon featuring other celebrities and other film genres.

The new campaign debuts just as United Arab Emirates receives a safe travel stamp of approval from the World Travel and Tourism Council due to their high COVID-19 vaccination rate. All the short films will lead viewers to dubaipresents.com, where they can receive a personalized travel itinerary for a potential Duabi vacation. Watch the first video and learn more here:

American Eagle Helps Dress Bitmojis

If you’re like many smartphone users, you’ve created (and love) your digital Bitmoji look-alike that you can use on Snapchat and other platforms. As part of their new campaign, clothing brand American Eagle has launched a digital line of clothing that users can choose for their Bitmojis. The outfits look like digital versions of American Eagle’s real collection of back-to-school inspired apparel. Many of the brand’s ambassadors, including Addison Rae and Chase Stokes, have promoted their own Bitmojis wearing their new digital American Eagle outfits.

In addition to the Bitmoji line, American Eagle is also developing an augmented reality feature that would allow Snapchat users to virtually try on (and purchase) looks from their new collection through their front-facing camera. The brand created a similar feature earlier this year, which helped Snapchat users “try on” American Eagle jeans to find their perfect pair. Mercedes-Benz Enters Amazon’s “Cinderella” World

Later this year, Amazon plans to release their new take on the classic tale of Cinderella. To help promote the film, Mercedes-Benz will launch an ad campaign that focuses on female empowerment by highlighting inspiring stories from a number of women. The brand has also named the film’s stars, Camila Cabello and Billy Porter, as their Mercedes-Benz ambassadors.

The first commercial in the campaign launched last week and focuses on “Cinderella” director and writer Kay Cannon, following her journey to turn her vision into reality. In addition, Mercedes-Benz will hold a “Dressed for a Dream” fashion show via livestream this month, featuring diverse women with inspiring stories as the runway models.
