The Challenge
The Phi Kappa Psi Foundation was formed “to aid, encourage, promote and contribute to the education and scholastic attainments” of Phi Psi students across the country. The Foundation provides funds for a variety of programs and services which assist college students in meeting their educational objectives through scholarships, grants, fellowships and assistantships, while promoting learning, high ethical standards and constructive citizenship.
The Foundation reached out to Radius for help advancing their fundraising objectives and creating more awareness around their leadership programming. Donor surveys indicated that there was a disconnect between the dollars being given to the foundation and the actual benefits being produced. The Foundation needed Radius to help build a stronger emotional connection between the donor and the beneficiary.

Radius Delivered
Radius first wanted to develop materials that would show the effect of the Foundation on Phi Kappa Psi students. The team crafted an interview series titled “My Journey,” which highlighted undergraduate students who received scholarships or fellowship support from the Foundation. The series helped tell the stories of the people impacted by donors’ generous gifts. Radius also filmed a video called “PIVOT,” in conjunction with the Nelson Leadership Institute, a Phi Kappa Psi Foundation program. The video detailed the leadership programming provided to undergraduates and followed their resulting career advancement opportunities. These materials lived on the Foundation’s website, which Radius redesigned and relaunched to better tell the engaging stories of the organization’s impact on their community.
Radius was also tasked with driving donations from the target donor audience. We developed a direct mail program, which included educational materials designed to convert recipients into active contributors to the Foundation. On the digital front, Radius created sales-driven tools for the website, which simplified the donation process and made it easier for interested users to become donors.
The Radius team also played a key role in orchestrating events for the Foundation. We were closely involved with coordinating the Grand Arch Council in New York City, a week of events for Phi Psi undergraduates and Foundation donors that both celebrated past accomplishments and outlined the future of the organization.
With these efforts, the Phi Kappa Psi Foundation was able to award $589,000 in scholarships and fellowships, moving them into first place as the largest scholarship provider among all fraternal foundations.
