Healthier Morgan County Initiative
Case Study
The Challenge
The Healthier Morgan County Initiative (HMCI) was founded by a group of community members in 2006 with the goal of improving the mental and physical health and well-being of Morgan County, Indiana residents. HMCI focuses their efforts in three areas: healthy living promotion, reduction of chronic disease and access to care.
When Radius first met with HMCI, Morgan County was struggling with high levels of addiction, depression, chronic disease and even an alarming suicide rate among residents. HMCI was looking for a way to reach more residents and engage with them to inspire healthier lifestyle choices and educate them on access to care. However, they weren’t sure how to best reach their wide and diverse audience.

Radius Delivered
As the partnership with HMCI began, Radius’ goal was to build a digital toolkit to encourage community members to engage in a healthier lifestyle through the use of innovative, easy-to-use features and exciting rewards.
Our first step was to create a mobile app, which allowed community members to create a profile and utilize features designed to take a holistic approach to improving health. The app provided fitness challenges, exercise option, healthy eating tips, mental health stress busters, self-assessment tools, and an extensive knowledge database. Through the app, users could earn rewards for participating and using the platform frequently.
Additionally, Radius overhauled HMCI’s website to mirror the look and feel of the mobile app and showcase the new HMCI logo. The website offers direct download access to the app and explains the various features it offers, using images and videos to create more engagement with the audience. One video in particular explains the app in depth and features testimonials from real users to help increase app usage.
Once the mobile app and website were launched, it was critical for Radius to make sure the market was aware of these new platforms. The Radius team shot and produced a 60-second video to highlight the mobile app, explain its many features and promote HMCI’s key marketing messages. The team also organized a launch awareness social media campaign and designed coordinating graphics to support the overall message and attract more users to HMCI’s initiative.
