We love when a brand knows how to have fun with their promotions and products. Catch up on all the details of the newest campaigns of the week, featuring funny and playful ads from several different companies.
Lego’s Superhero-Inspired Short Film
In a recently released ad, Lego partnered with comedian Jane Lynch to showcase how play can be a superpower. The five-minute short film stars Lynch as a workaholic executive who discovers how powerful (and productive) play can be during “bring your child to work day.” Several imaginative Lego creations are featured in the ad, such as a Lego remote control, speaker, and anti-gravity machine.
The new spot is part of Lego’s promotion for the upcoming World Play Day on October 12, which encourages adults to prioritize time for play for their children. The campaign will also extend into the holiday shopping season, a crucial sales period for Lego. A Flamin’ Hot Partnership with Megan Thee Stallion
Snack brand Flamin’ Hot Cheetos is reuniting with star rapper Megan Thee Stallion to introduce fans to Flamin’ Hot University. In a new ad, Megan shows us around the grounds of the university (otherwise known as FU), showcasing branded merchandise and even a dining court filled with Flamin’ Hot food products. In addition to the funny spot, the brand has pledged to donate the proceeds from their new Flamin’ Hot University merch line to a scholarship fund at Texas Southern University, Megan’s alma mater and a HBCU.
The new campaign marks the first time all of Frito-Lay’s Flamin’ Hot products have been featured in one ad, including products from their Cheetos, Doritos, and Ruffles chip brands. This is also the third time Megan has been a spokesperson for Frito-Lay, a partnership that started with a Super Bowl commercial in 2022. Chobani Launches AR Trick-or-Treat Experience
Chobani is “flipping” for Halloween this year. Ahead of the spooky season, Chobani introduced new seasonal four-packs of their Chobani Flip yogurts, featuring flavors like S’more S’mores and Almond Coco Loco. Each four-pack comes with limited-edition Halloween-themed packaging, including a QR code consumers can scan for a trick-or-treating augmented reality experience. The AR lens allows players to win a variety of prizes, such as phone wallpapers, keychains, hats, and more.
The yogurt brand is supporting their AR packaging push with a short video ad, which shows classic Halloween characters delivering various Chobani Flip packages to a haunted house. Green Giant Touts Plant-Based Foods
Remember the “It’s Corn” video that swept the nation last summer? The star of the viral video, Tariq, is back on camera to help Green Giant promote its new Dino Veggie Tots this fall. The campaign, called “That’s Giant,” highlights how the frozen food brand has been helping kids enjoy vegetables long before plant-based products became a national hit. The ad is simple and light-hearted, as it features Tariq in a dinosaur costume helping his family make dinner with Green Giant’s newest product.
Green Giant previously teamed up with Tariq, also known as the “Corn Kid,” for a line of corn-themed recipes during last year’s Thanksgiving season.
