WNBA & Tamika Catchings
Case Study

The Challenge

In partnership with WNBA Cares, the #FOR24EVER Legacy Tour celebrated the career accomplishments and contributions of women’s basketball star Tamika Catchings in 2016 as she entered her final WNBA season. During the Legacy Tour, a total of $24,000 in grants were awarded to organizations in each WNBA city focused on uplifting youth.

As part of the tour, Tamika Catchings herself hosted three national events, including activations around two of the largest basketball gatherings in North America – NBA All-Star Weekend and the NCAA Women’s Final Four. To properly represent Catchings’ career and pay tribute to her accomplishments, the Legacy Tour needed a strong, recognizable brand and message.

Radius Delivered

Using Catchings’ jersey number 24 as inspiration, Radius developed the For24Ever brand, and later the #24FOREVER campaign, for the full legacy tour that culminated in her retirement ceremony. The logo features the classic colors of the Indiana Fever, blue and yellow, to represent Catchings’ one and only WNBA home for 16 years. The centerpiece of the logo spotlights the number 24 in the exact font scheme as her jersey number, along with a silhouette of Catchings from her performance in Game 4 of the 2012 WNBA Finals, where she led the Fever to a WNBA Title.

The For24Ever logo and brand were used throughout 2016 to promote the Legacy Tour in the twelve cities that are home to WNBA teams and for years following as a symbol of Catchings’ accomplishments. Radius was proud to help honor one of the greatest women’s basketball players of all time and continue the legacy of such an influential figure in the Indianapolis community.
